Covering all aspects of Tree Reduction, Tree pruning, Tree thinning and of course Tree removal. About Our Company Director, Rory

The business was born from its founder’s passion and love of the outdoors and especially trees. Rory Burdett-Hammonds, a born-and-bred midlands man, was brought up on a farm and at an early age was totally at ease with the Leicestershire and Warwickshire countryside and climbing to the top of any tree. The country farming life also taught Rory great values and ethics in everyday life.

His early adult career then steered him away from any office-based work and led him only to pursue an outdoors career and what a career this has been. Educated and trained with an “Ology” in Trees, Rory gained his National Certificate in Arboriculture – which to you and me makes him a fully qualified “Tree Surgeon”.

He had an amazing first two years of tree surgery in wonderful New Zealand; the land of the Hobbit, but also of giant trees such as the Tāne Mahuta, a kauri tree – one of the largest types (by girth rather than height) in the world. In a Maori forest measuring 51.5 metres tall and has a trunk girth of 18.8 metres (a challenge for the most ardent tree-hugger).

Then, still in New Zealand, his ability with great heights and safety work was tested to the full with a period of working on high altitude ski lift cables and systems. He was working in sub-zero temperatures with iced cables; all while high in the sky!

Returning to the UK, Rory spent several years working for multiple well-established tree surgery companies around the country as well as working on the Forestry of Scotland, in the wilds of the highlands where trees easily outnumber the inhabitants.

Rory’s scariest work then followed, with wind turbine erecting and maintenance in the North Sea (yes in the sea, not on land). Even Rory’s climbing skills and nerve were put to the test there, 200 miles out to sea with wave swells below and serious winds above at 150m plus.

Realizing Rory’s dream, he returned home in 2015 to start his own tree surgery company – Climbatize Ltd. Now using all of the vast collection of knowledge and skills to solve our community’s tree problems, we can all enjoy the natural beauty of our trees without risk to people or property.
